Affnomy: One Year Back, My Personal Website Is Live

Hi, I’m Peter.

On September 2 last year, I published “1,700+ Days Without an Update…”, which marked my return to my WeChat Official Account.

This month makes exactly one year. Over that year I wrote 70+ articles, starting with my old trade, Push and Pop, then Facebook, and later more and more about AI.

Mixed in were the everyday matters of a one-person company: the Hong Kong company, getting paid, annual filings. To mark the first anniversary I did an upgrade and built a website for all this content. It’s called Affnomy, and it launches today.

Coming back to writing on my WeChat Official Account doesn’t make much money. To put it bluntly, running ads pays better.

So why spend the time on it? I thought it over, and it comes down to a few points.

01 The power of the community

For years I’ve been running paid traffic.

As I mentioned in my Email Marketing article: when my accounts get suspended or banned and the traffic stops, what do I have left?

The answer is here.

The followers of my WeChat Official Account, the members of my community, the articles I’ve written: none of them disappear just because some ad account got banned.

After one year, this is what has built up here:

The numbers don’t lie

02 How much will I make today? I don’t know

There’s a line I really like:

You ask how much I’ll make today. I don’t know, but I know I’ll make money.

Writing content works the same way. Keep moving in the direction you’re working toward, and a lot of things will come.

This year, platforms reached out one after another to work together, and my X account gained 1,000 followers in three days. None of that could have been calculated at the start.

Overthink it and it’s all problems. Do it and it’s all answers.

03 A sense of recognition

By a rough count, this year I also helped over a hundred community members who run ads in overseas markets, answering all kinds of questions.

Some of those problems I ran into myself back in the day. Some I had never come across.

Being able to help makes me better too.

04 AI ad automation

This year I’ve been focused on AI ad automation.

I don’t want to keep sitting at a computer, because I’ve already sat there for ten years.

Making ads run profitably through AI automation is my biggest goal.

I’ve also built my own tracking and auto-optimization system, and connected the few platforms I use most to AI:

Polaris and Acc (Accumulator)

I’m still working in that direction. After 35, I want to travel around and film life on the road.

Writing helps others and trains me at the same time.
